Rev. Cindy Edwards is long time teacher and advocate for young people and families. Her teaching experience expands nearly 37 years in Florida and Alaska.
Mrs Edwards was the recipient of Who’s Who’s in college academics and graduated with several academic honors including Phi Beta Kappa, Gold Key Honor Society, and Athenaeum Women Honor Society. She was nominated Teacher of the Year on numerous occasion and was finalist in BP Teacher of the Year in 2011. She was also selected as a city Parent of the Year and was a grant writer for the culturally disadvantaged.
Cindy has a host of experiences over the years working with students and families of various mental and physical disabilities. She has gained a wealth of training, knowledge and experience as early as a college Freshman in her personal care training in 1988, but also In her personal family life as well.
She was ordained a baptist minister in 2015. Her greatest passion is her agape love for people and compassion for those who are in need of comfort, encouragement, spiritual consolation and a listening ear. She deems it an esteemed honor and privilege to be able to work and serve in the field of personal care and physical and mental disabilities.
Tollie has a personal passion for those who experience a mental disabilities due to life experiences of being raised with family who struggle with a mental disability.
Tollie has since worked with youth who struggle with outside trauma that effect or trigger mental instability.
Tollie has over 10 years experience training in de-escalation strategies. Tollie, in recent years, has worked with those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, Hearing Loss and Individuals on the Autism Spectrum.
Tollie is a huge advocate for equality for all persons of disabilities known, unknown, rare and common.
Brittany has been in the field for over 20 years and has been working in all forms of the field from as early as 8 years old, working with an aunt who had physical disabilities and needed constant care.
Brittany was an essential part of a Special Olympics cheer team in Middle School and went on to continue working with those who had different abilities than others. Brittany herself has overcome obstacles as a child diagnosed with extreme ADHD and knows how hard it is to overcome stereotypes and be limited by others because of a diagnosis.
Brittany is now the mother of 3 children and one who experiences a bilateral progressive hearing loss and uses ASL as a means to communicate. Brittany is also the daughter of a father who is in his last stages of Alzheimer’s and has been his primary caretaker since his 2012 diagnosis.
Brittany’s passion in this field of serving comes from personal experience and a strong belief in advocating for those who may not be able to advocate for themselves. She is on numerous local boards to advocate for those experiencing disabilities and has continuously fought for equality in education for students of disabilities.
